A club going from strength to strength
Construction works kicked off in September 2022 on the new state-of-the-art artificial turf pitch at Sheffield Wednesday’s Jubilee Sports & Social Club. Having an in-house community facility like this in the heart of Hillsborough had been a vision of the club for many years. Access to such sporting facilities is integral to the health of a community. The club’s aim was to consolidate their operations onto the Jubilee site. Prior to the construction of the new 3G pitch the community programme had to train on numerous sites across the city, which was very difficult operationally and the costs were significant.
I would like to place on record how professional the staff were from PST Sport from start to finish at our new facility. I would have no hesitation in recommending PST moving forward. We are extremely pleased with the new 3G pitch and also the after service that is provided by the team. To have a state-of-the-art facility like this connected to the club, a facility for all age groups to use on a day-to-day basis, will benefit the community and academy and play a key part in the development of the club’s programmes going forward.

The project commenced in September 2022, removing the natural turf pitch in preparation for sub base works and drainage installation. The chosen surface was a top-quality football surface suitable for elite level football, Triplex 45, a premier monofilament artificial grass laid onto a preformed shock pad with high-grade silica sand and a performance rubber infill.
Triplex 45 uses 3 different shaped yarns, for better resilience, durability and softness. This enables the field to perform to FIFA standards and also creates a surface that can last in excess of 10 years. The surface provides a good balance of performance and longevity, allowing the client to use the field extensively and maximise its usage to the wider community.
The new floodlit pitch at Jubilee Sports and Social Club, which meets FIFA Quality Pro standards, is one of the best surfaces in Europe and will contribute significantly to the overall development of sport in the community. PST Sport designed the sub base and drainage system to accommodate the new surfacing solution; to deliver the most technologically advanced artificial turf pitch. It was our pleasure to work with Marcus and the team at the club. Despite the challenging weather at times, PST pulled out all the stops and made every effort to deliver the facility on schedule.
