This state-of-the-art project, supported by years of dedicated fundraising and planning, marks a new chapter for the club, offering a premier sporting experience that supports year-round play and training, regardless of weather conditions.
Project Overview
The development featured two key components: the construction of a full-size FIFA Quality artificial grass pitch and the refurbishment of the club’s existing all-weather pitch. These upgrades have significantly improved the club’s infrastructure, meeting the growing demands of over 500 playing members, from under-6s to seniors, and positioning Boyle Celtic as a key player in community football development.
Pitch 1: A New FIFA Quality Surface The full-size pitch (105m x 71m) involved extensive groundworks with the installation of an enhanced drainage system and dynamic stone base, ensuring a durable, high-performance surface for both training and competitive play. We also installed perimeter kerbing and sports fencing.
The pitch was designed to meet safety standards while accommodating the club’s high-volume use. The chosen surface, Pride 50, laid over a 10mm shock pad, is an advanced artificial turf system renowned for its resilience and softness, providing players with a professional-grade football experience.
Pitch 2: Upgrading the All-Weather Pitch The club’s smaller all-weather pitch also underwent significant refurbishment. This included the removal and disposal of the existing surface and the installation of 1,750 sq/m of Pride 50 turf over a shock pad. The upgrade also featured the refurbishment of 100m of 1.8m high fencing and the installation of new LED floodlights, bringing the facility in line with modern standards.
Floodlighting and Infrastructure Enhancements
In addition to the turf installations, the project saw the upgrade of existing floodlights to LED, allowing for extended usage during the evening and improving the overall sustainability of the club’s facilities.
