As projects go, jobs don’t get much closer to HQ than this one. PST Sport is due to commence works shortly constructing a 6,600 sq/m state-of-the-art artificial grass pitch for our neighbours, Tralee grassroots football club, St Brendan’s Park FC taking club facilities to the highest level.

A Thriving Club at the Heart of a Community

St Brendan’s Park FC was founded in 1971 and has been providing a sporting and social outlet for the greater Tralee area for over 50 years. As a club, all involved have worked incredibly hard to put a plan in place for the development of facilities and have worked tirelessly to provide football for all age groups.

Recent success has seen a significant growth in numbers across all sections of the club and in particular an increased interest in kids wanting to play football. St Brendan’s Park FC is striving to meet these growing demands by providing a soft, safe, weatherproof surface for all players to use, that will meet the club’s high-volume usage requirements year-round and allow the club to grow and flourish into the future. The addition of floodlights will allow for nighttime use and, as with all PST pitches, the new facility will act as a significant revenue generator for the club through pitch hire.

Project Scope

  • Full groundworks and the installation of an enhanced drainage system
  • 263m2 of concrete footpath
  • 300m2 of gravel footpath
  • 356m of 1.2m high spectator fencing
  • 8m high ball stop netting behind both goals
  • Floodlights (300 lux on 6nr. 15m high posts)
  • 6,600 sq/m SUPERB 50 artificial grass carpet laid over preformed shock pad and infilled with a base layer of high grade TE-30 silica sand and a performance layer of SBR to provide a top level football pitch.

SUPERB 50

SUPERB 50 is an exceptionally durable 17,000 dtex diamond shape yarn. Its smooth shape means that it is soft to touch and the fact it is manufactured using the advanced C8 polymer, a purer polymer, makes it extremely resilient. Due to the ability of the fibre to “stand up”, ball roll is as close to a high-quality natural turf pitch as possible, while the ease with which the yarn allows players to twist and turn, takes football on artificial grass to a new level.
