New Era for Firies National School

The excitement at Firies National School was unmistakable this week as the new term marked the opening of the school’s brand new state-of-the-art 3G pitch. After months of careful planning, the 60m x 40m community all-weather pitch with high performance artificial grass carpet on a prefabricated shock pad system, surrounded by rebound fencing and concrete footpath was handed over to Principal, Claire Doyle.

Works on the much-anticipated facility on the grounds of Firies NS, in the heart of Co. Kerry, completed last week ahead of the school’s reopening this week.

Clubs and community groups from Firies and beyond will get to play and train year round on this much needed facility. The new pitch will not only benefit physical health but their psychological and emotional well being too.
